Changes

People change. They say one thing and do another. It happens everyday and it’s very much so a part of life. Did they lie? Technically yes. Did they sin? No. "So the Lord changed His mind about the harm which He said He would do to His people," (Exodus 32:14, NASB). Part of becoming the person you were meant to be means figuring things out. Part of figuring things out is talking about them. We use and feel emotion as we talk and interact with others. It’s natural. It’s how we relate, and it makes sense. Companionship takes sacrifice and honesty. I recently read “LIFE” an autobiography by Keith Richards. He had one of the best definitions and explanations of friendship that I’ve ever heard. Friendship, as he puts it, is just a matter of shrinking the distance between you and another person. I love the definition because it sheds light on the sacrifice side of friendship. You wanna have a good close relationship with someone? It’s gonna take you sharing some things with them, possibly uncomfortable things. The cool thing is they’re looking for the same thing in you. It's the age old moral of give a little to get a little. The smaller that distance becomes, the more we understand each other, and the better we feel. You may act like you deal with things better alone, but you’re lying. It’s in our DNA to share, to give, to change. It’s a part of living.
